Amazon.ca André Previn has gathered an extremely distinguished group of chamber musicians to join him in these French pieces, which he obviously enjoys. The Milhaud, arranged by the composer for piano and string quartet, is the novelty here, played with such brio that one doesn't miss the original orchestra. The Poulenc and Saint-Saëns, both top-drawer entertainment pieces, are also very well played by all. The disc runs a bit under fifty minutes, but considering the number of people involved and the amount of rehearsal time it takes to get this level of performance, let's not complain for once. --Leslie Gerber
