Un récitant commente les divers épisodes d'un texte qui ne se veut pas liturgique. L'orchestration grandiose sert les idéaux d'humanisme et de générosité de Berlioz. L'orchestre symphonique de Montréal, les solistes dont François Le Roux, Susan Graham et John Mark Ainsley, nous font entrer dans la douceur et la finesse de l'écriture de ce récit. On comprend alors pourquoi le compositeur appela cette partition sa "Petite Sainteté" ! Quant à Charles Dutoit, il est grand ordonnateur de cette fresque musicale, nous proposant un nouveau jalon de l'oeuvre de Berlioz qu'il semble vouloir graver dans son intégralité. --Maxim Lawrence
