Amazon.ca Avec Rendez-vous, Sylvain Cossette prend congé de la pop grandiose, omniprésente sur ses précédents albums, Blanc et Humain, et s’offre un trip acoustique où se côtoient guitares, contrebasse, violon et violoncelle. Sa voix, qu’on sait fort puissante, se fait ici plus nuancée quand il réinterprète trois de ses succès ("Tu reviendras", "Demain et le Lendemain" et "Rendez-vous") et s’approprie plusieurs chansons qu’il affectionne tout particulièrement. Dans une ambiance feutrée, presque cabaret, il reprend "Pas besoin de frapper" (Jacques Michel), "Si Dieu existe" (Claude Dubois), "La Maison sous les arbres" (Gilbert Bécaud), "Love of My Life" (Queen) et quelques autres classiques des répertoires francophone et anglo-saxon. Ses interprétations de "La Quête", de Brel, ou de "Long and Winding Road", des Beatles, sont moins convaincantes, mais Rendez-vous reste un disque chaleureux et invitant dans la tradition des unplugged.
