Kieslowski comprenant également Bleu et Blanc, Zbigniew Preisner décida de conclure avec Rouge sur une partition plus optimiste et accessible à un public de masse. Toujours recherchée et raffinée, cette partition se différenciait des prédcédentes par un axe symphonique bien plus mélodique. Si dans la forme, Rouge continuait à suivre le chemin contemporain tracé par le compositeur dès le premier opus, en revanche, la musique s'y distinguait dans le fond par une nonchalance délectable dont on ne sortait pas indemne.
