Della (Kim Basinger), a lonely, surburban housewife, sets off for the mall on a cold winters day to do her Christmas shopping. When she finds the last two spaces left in the mall car park straddled by a badly parked Plymouth car, she leaves the owner an angry note and goes off to find another space. She returns to her car later, parked half a mile away, and is shocked to find the same Plymouth now blocking her exit, and four thugs confronting her. A dangerous car chase ensues until Della crashes her car into a desolate forest.
